This board was made in collaboration by Anna Laxague of Basko Creative and Brack Hassel of Parkdale Wood Works. Anna works with salvaged wood, refinishes it and paints scenes from the Pacific Northwest while Brack of Parkdale Woodworks is a guy in a garage doing something that he loves. Tinkering and creating beautiful and also functional pieces out of wood. Both artists are based in Parkdale Oregon.

This board was made of two live edge beams that Anna sourced from local mill scraps. While she loves doing wood work, her shop didn’t have the tools necessary nor did she have the experience needed to join the two slabs and shape the board so she reached out to guy who doesn’t shy away from a challenge. Brack was stoked to turn two pretty rough slabs of cedar into what you see here. He meticulously cut and sand the shape (mostly by hand). After Brack shaped the slabs, Anna brought the piece to her studio where she sealed the wood and painted the design. The bit of live edge left on the top of the piece connects it to it’s life as a tree in the Upper Hood River Valley. The painting depicts the Mt Hood area and Oregon Coast. Two places that both artists draw inspiration from.
